About the event

Welcome to your next High Bridge cycling adventure! Join the Party Size Cycling + Flemington DIY crew on September 10 for a geocaching-cycling adventure throughout High Bridge, NJ.

A little about geocaching..”Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world.”  Here’s how this is going to work:

1. Register through partysizecycling.com

2. Depending how many people have signed up and show up on the day of, we will split up into smaller groups or teams. Be prepared to meet some new folks and work as a team!  We will start and finish at the High Bridge Commons. Start time: 9am  End time: 11am.

3. Participants should download the free Geocaching app through the App Store. Sign up for a free account. On the app, go to “Search by: location (type High Bridge, NJ). You will be able to see all the available caches in the High Bridge area. There are certain caches that require a paid subscription. We will be searching only for the caches that are available through the FREE version. There are approximately 7 free geocaches in the High Bridge area. There may be a few additional *bonus* caches that will be available in a more DIY style... Please don't attempt to find the caches before the event as it would defeat the purpose*!

4. You and your team will route yourself via bicycle to the caches. The geocache app provides the coordinates, size of cache, difficulty level, and sometimes even provides hints. When you find a cache, it is customary to “log” your finding via the app to show you have found it and keep track of your findings. Be prepared to hop off your bike and explore via foot. Your bike will serve as the mode of transport to the general location but it's likely you might have to hike a bike and do some further exploring.

5. Team with the most completed caches gets bragging rights! And maybe a small prize.....

6. If you'd like to stick around after the event, bring a potluck style item to share and we'll hang at a local park (TBD) and enjoy each other's company!

Disclaimer: These caches have not been created or placed by us. Geocaching works in the style of crowdsourcing through an app used by millions of people. We cannot verify any information about the caches such as their condition, specific locations, etc, (we don't even know where they are ourselves). We are all doing this together for the first time and that's the fun of the adventure!

Additionally, many thanks to Delfina Picchio for organzing pretty much everything about the event.
